Louis The Child concert review - December 8th, 2017 and December 6th, 2018

back to home

thank goodness my husband is always down to go out with me

Just realized that I’ve seen this amazing beat-making duo almost exactly a year apart during late fall. What’s with me only seeing this act during Christmas season? Lol. I don’t care either way because these dudes are 2 for 2 when it comes to putting on a good show. Read on to learn more about my experience seeing Louis the Child.

look i thought if maybe i tossed my mixtape on stage maybe i'd get a record deal or sumn

I picked up on LTCs music during… you know what, I actually don’t remember how I found out about this group. Probably through someone’s playlist on 8tracks. I think the first song I heard by them was From Here, which is one of my favorite tracks by them to date. When I heard they were coming to my favorite venue in my town (Ace of Spades in Sacramento), of course I was going to go go go.

told you it was christmas time, lol

LTC came to town shortly after I made a new friend named Dillon. Shout-out to Dillon because he’s super cool. We sang together at the battle of the bands competition at Sacramento state (and got 2nd place out of 8 acts, woot woot. Check out my music youtube to see our performance ♥). For me, this concert was celebratory occasion to celebrate our hard work for the band competition, me graduating college, ending a super rough long-term relationship and finally feeling like myself for the first time in years. I mention Dillon because 1) he’s cool and 2) he was cool enough to accompany me to this show.

there's Dillon in the cap

Id been fortunate enough to score some dancey MMMMM from an old buddy of mine just in time for this show. I happily indulged right before calling my lyft to the show. I was so excited that I was basically grinding my teeth xD. So I get to ace and meet Dillon out front. We get in line and I notice that their doing some pretty thorough security checks. Thankfully I remember that I have some not-totally-security-friendly items on me so I’m like “heyy dillon, I uhh, forgot something in the car” and he looks at me like “tf” because I didn’t drive there lol. So I back away from the line, trying not to look sus as fuck and thankfully he doesn’t question me until we’re away from the guards. So any fucking ways I drop that stuff at his car, we get in line and we’re in!

me and neem in sf for his bday weekendd

I love ace of spades because it’s such a dark, grungy, sexy venue. It has a blood-red vibe to it, 3 full bars, a nice balcony area near the back and a raised area on the left side, allowing for several point of view to see the acts. When we arrive, the opener is already playing on stage. Her stage name is ashe and she’s really good yall, definitely check her out along with LTC. Her and the group have some tracks together so it makes sense that she would be at this show. She seems nice too - Dillon and I met her after the show (peep the pic). She seemed to like my bunny ears ‘cause she was petting all over them. I felt special >_>

always a good time seeing LTC

So she finished her set and the crowds getting rowdy and wild for LTC (peep the video, we already about to start jumping lol). Finally they come out and of course it was a blast. They’re such good musicians overall. I appreciate how they mixed their original tracks with some exclusive, new mixes and sounds. It always irritates me when I go see a DJ artist and they don’t play ANY of their original tracks! Like hey, im tryna hear some bangers! LTC did not disappoint at all. I know I danced my ass off.

me messing around in sf

The 2nd time I saw LTC was at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, along with big wild and wafia. It was the week of my boyfriend’s (now husband’s) birthday so I figured, why not see one of my favorite acts :D (wow im so selfish lol). But hes a saggitarius sun/rising so hes always down for anything. I didn’t realize the auditorium was so big! Definitely way bigger than ace of spades which meant we were kind of in the middle-back with not the best-ever view during this show. It didn’t matter though cause they killed the place with a bassy-ass set and some dope strobe lights. Wafia came out and sang “better not”, and again, they had some super cool mixes blended in with some of their own bangers. Big wild had an awesome set as well – I loved hearing “When I Get There” and “For the Love” live. such good bass lines in both those tracks.

make some love that lastsss

Sooo yeah, if you’ve been contemplating on seeing any of the acts I mentioned here, definitely just get a ticket and go. You likely will not regret it! As always, if you have any questions for me, wanna meet up for an event or just wanna say hi, leave me a comment on the home page or hmu on instagram @bunnygoestoshows.
